NICARAGUA: FSLN-PLC "pact" proves stumbling block to liberal alliance

Following the announcement of a "strategic liberal alliance" between the Alianza Liberal Nicaragüense (ALN) and Partido Liberal Constitucionalista (PLC) in July, both parties made a further agreement on 3 September to vote together to approve 18 legislative proposals. They also underlined their commitment to participate in party primary elections together to select candidates for the municipal elections in 2008.
